Professor Raphael Freund Award
The Professor Raphael Freund award is presented each year to a IGS member for an excellent publication in Earth Sciences that was published in the three years preceding the award. The award is presented in the memory of Professor Raphael Freund, in honor of his distinguished career as a teacher at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a pioneering researcher in many fields of the geology of Israel. The award committee consists of four members including the President of the IGS. Members of the award committee serve for two years and are elected at the general assembly. All members of the IGS may submit a personal publication or publication of another member for consideration of the award (award committee members may not submit a personal publication). The names of proposed candidates should be referred to the President of the IGS.
